Greetings from the rainy, foggy, cool mountains

Greetings from the rainy, foggy and cool mountains. I am wearing my winter coat today. It's downright chilly here in Alleghany County. I've included a foggy photo taken from the deck of my cabin. Special thanks to WRAL.com web editor Kelly Hinchcliffe for helping me put this together.

Right now I'm at the library in Sparta. This place is hopping. I've just lined up a book signing for the fall here. Someone saw my book Blue Ridge Reunion today and said "that would make a perfect Father's Day gift." I thought that was nice.

I didn't bring my scales with me so I will miss weigh in day tomorrow as part of the Ten Pounds Down weight loss challenge. But I've been running on the Blue Ridge Parkway (carefully avoiding cars) and working out with free weights. So maybe I am not too far off the mark. We'll resume the weigh in next week.

I want to congratulate marywag for winning the Best Nicknames contest. Way to go Doodle-Bug! I'll be sending you a prize when I get back to the Triangle.

Dang, Bill. What a view. Is this your place or a rental?

Beautiful picture Bill! Hope you all enjoy yourselves!!!Woohoo, i'm a little afraid to weigh tomorrow anyway!! Haha

My parents are at Sugar now - wish I was! Hope you have a great time.

My parents have a place in Allegheny County also....we love spending time up there. We have a 4th of July get together up on the mountain with the other summer people and of course, go to Sparta to see the fireworks!! Lovely community
