Peonies & Poetry
(Bill Leslie)
With peonies and poetry,
He stoked his lover’s heart,
From melted snow
And winds that blow,
To warmer works of art.
With lilacs and a lover’s song,
Sweet breezes in the air,
The spell - the spark,
You now embark,
On visions of Voltaire.
With peonies and poetry,
And carols sung by birds,
Kind cadences,
Of rousing rhymes,
On wings of silent words.
(poem from my book Blue Ridge Reunion which seemed appropriate this week)
