Bill Leslie's Carolina Conversations

Guess Where?

Posted December 3, 2008

Take a look at these three photographs? Can you identify the location or locations? How about the person in the third picture? I'll send the first Carolina Conversations blogger with the correct answers a copy of my new CD.

And speaking of the above, I have had numerous calls and letters from people wanting signed copies of my new book and companion CD as gifts. Thank you very much for your interest in the Blue Ridge Reunion project. I've been overwhelmed with the positive reaction - so much so that we are now into our second printing of the book! That's very exciting. Every day I carve out some time to respond to these personal requests. I am more than happy to handle personal orders but with Christmas coming on I want to make sure that I can fill every request before the big day.

Please email me at if you'd like me to sign and mail you copies of the book and CD. The 124 page hardback book, featuring my father's mountain watercolors and my essays and photographs, retails for $25 while the 14 song CD, which hit number one on the world music charts, sells for $15. I accept checks but not credit cards. You can order directly from me or visit one of the many retail outlets carrying the items. These include Quail Ridge Books & Music, Barnes & Noble, Borders Books & Music, Wild Birds Unlimited, and the gift stores at the NC History Museum and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

If you'd like to read more about the book and CD you can check out Peder Zane’s article “Portrait of a Reunion” on the News & Observer web site.

We took a short vacation 4 years ago in November to Bald Head. Our first visit there. The weather was great. We actually canoed past the "shack" in the first picture and told everyone that was our vacation home. Still have the picture of us going past it in my office to remind me of the great time we had there. Also have a picture of our friend Bob (who is thinning on top) next to Old Baldy. Ha!

Old boathouse on the creek at Bald Head Island, The chapel steeple at Bald Head Island, NC. Don't recognize the person on one of the many BHI beaches!!

I guess I should clarify - fishnett has identified the person in the photo but not the specific place and yes, I will be signing CDs and books at Johnston Community College this weekend.

Bill will you be doing autographs and bringing any CD's/books to the concert at Smithfield?

  • fishnett5977 Dec 3, 2008

The other places kinda look like somewhere around the Outer Banks - Plymouth Village maybe?

The guy in the beach pic has to be the youngest Leslie - Will! He has the height of dad but you cant see his features!

Good guess but not right on Bob Holliday. This guy is a good bit younger.
