Cast your vote for King of Cue – Western Style

Congratulations to Hog Heaven of Durham for winning the WRAL poll for King of the Cue Down East Barbecue. Hog Heaven edged Parker’s for the title. Chapel Hill’s Barbecue Joint came in third in a robust round of balloting. The official voting ended Friday. Thanks to all of you for participating and expressing your passion for barbecue.

Now it is time to turn our attention to barbecue restaurants that add a touch of tomato to their sauces. It’s called Lexington-style or Western Barbecue. Who is the Best of the West? Lexington is well represented in this poll and could very well produce the winner. Please vote for the Best of the West BBQ. We will keep this survey going until Thursday at 9:00AM. I doubt we will get the volume we received in the down east balloting but you never know!

Belly up to the barbecue battleground and cast your ballot here.

I'm from Greensboro, so I gotta vote Stamey's.

Gotta go with family and vote for Bridges in Shelby.

Robertslaw = Perfect name for a BBQ fan!

Lexington #2 is the king with Stamey's a very close second when you find yourself in Greensboro. (Stamey learnt his trade at Lexington #2 before striking out on his own, BTW...)

Honey Monk's. End of contest.

how about Short Sugars in Reidsville and Hickory Log in Forest City. Both real good!!!

Well, you left off Jimmy's in Lexington, which is my all-time favorite, but Bridges in Shelby is good too, so they'll get my vote this time. Had Jimmy's last Saturday; we had to go to Charlotte for a funeral so made the best of the trip and picked up dinner on the way back. Jimmy's has the best customer service; we only get there once or twice a year and they remember us every time we go in.

Lexington #2 is my vote.

And dang, just reading this makes me want to get in the car and drive a little over an hour west just to get some. Good stuff.

Way too many good restaurants were not on the ballot. The selections on NC BBQ society's historic trail are better but limits Lexington to only two entries...

Short Sugar's of Reidsville should have been on the ballot.

The restaurants included in the poll were those nominated last week. You had to get a nomination to make the poll. Short Sugars does not use tomato in their sauce so this fine Reidsville restaurant was included in the eastern poll. I singled it out as the most creative name.

hawg wild in cary isnt on here and they got great western style

You left out the absolute best--Tarheel Q---lexington-mocksville hwy 64

Having grown up in Greensboro, I have to vote for Stamey's.
