It’s a good way to see North Carolina without burning gas. Do yourself a big favor. Carve out a few minutes and click here.

Tar Heel Treasures is a special feature initiated last year by WRAL Multi-Media Producer Nathan Clendenin. The program began with a winter slide show of Pettigrew State Park complete with tundra swans, snow geese and icy waters.

Well, Nathan’s collection of stories has grown dramatically to include everything from festivals to natural beauty to the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain to colorful Carolina characters. Nathan has also incorporated the talents of UNC journalism and mass communication students in the marvelous collection.

Here’s what I would like to know from you: what are your favorite slideshows and why? We would really like to get your input. Thanks for opening the chest of Tar Heel Treasures. Share the wealth.

All are so beautiful! My favorites - the beach themed ones! The Parade of Sail and our own local Pirate! I have pics of the Meka 2 and the Compass Rose from Key West on my wall at work. A friend took them when we went to the Parade of Sail! I was lucky enough to see the Compass Rose again last year on my trip to Key West. These pics are so wonderful. Somebody needs to make a BOOK of them!!! What a nice addition to every NC home!! :)

Wow, the photography is magnificent. My vote goes to the Highland Games. I enjoyed the narration, the comments from the actual "Scots" attending the festivities and, of course, the bagpipe music!
