If You Had to Move?

Fred Allen said: “California is a fine place to live….if you are an orange.” Would you like to live in California? What about Idaho and Arkansas?

Today we play the “if” game. Please weigh in.

1. If you had to live in another North Carolina county where would you live and why?

2. If you had to live in another state where would you go and what would be your reason?

3. If you had to live in another country, what would draw you there and why would you like it?

4. If you had to live on another planet where would you travel and why?

I’ll start. Burke County would be my alternative county home because that’s where I was born and it’s a beautiful and friendly place. I’d like to live in Hawaii. Kauai and Maui are magical. Scotland would be my foreign choice because of the stunning scenery and my Celtic roots. As for another planet I’d take Mars because they have great candy bars.

One other question:  Are you up for another chapter in our Carolina Conversations novel? How ‘bout it mdoodle and murdock?

1. If you had to live in another North Carolina county where would you live and why? Haywood County- I adore Maggie Valley

2. If you had to live in another state where would you go and what would be your reason? Tennessee, because it’s almost as beautiful as NC

3. If you had to live in another country, what would draw you there and why would you like it? Ireland, from everything I've ever seen, it's gorgeous there.

4. If you had to live on another planet where would you travel and why? Saturn- since we're dreaming, be cool to skate around those rings, wouldn't it?

1. If you had to live in another North Carolina county where would you live and why? Dare County/ Outerbanks. IF you have to ask why, You've never been! ;)

2. If you had to live in another state where would you go and what would be your reason? I"ve always wanted to live in Maine. DOn't know why- never even been. and i hate cold. go figure! lol

3. If you had to live in another country, what would draw you there and why would you like it? Ireland. Beautiful.

4. If you had to live on another planet where would you travel and why? None because they can not support human life! ;)

3Sails - You and I are a whole lot alike!

1. Either Dare County (where I am from and family still lives) or Carteret County (just a wee bit warmer).

2. Either Charleston, SC or surrounding Low Country area for the proximity to the water (and talk about good food!) or along the coast of Florida to be close to the beach and have good weather.

3. The Carribean Islands or the more "tropical" parts of Australia.

4. Well, Earth ain't called the "Blue Planet" for nothing! So, it would have to be another planet with oceans or I'll stay where I am, thank you very much.

1. I'd go to the Guilford County area (High Point/Greensboro) because it's in between Raleigh and Charlotte...

2. Florida, I have family in the Orlando area, I've always liked visiting there.

3. France, preferably Paris, I've always wanted to go, I speak a little french, very little...

4. Mars, Isn't it the largest planet?

1. I live in Pender, but I'd probably go for Duplin. Lots of nice people, no traffic. 2. Virginia. It is a lot like NC, except you can't drive as fast! Charlottesville is the neatest town I have ever been to. Lots of wineries everywhere! 3. The Bahama's. Obvious reasons. It's warm. I mean we are being hypothetical! 4. Planet... I don't think I have enough information about all the others to make that decision.

After all that, I'm glad I live in North Carolina!

"I have wondered if Kansas, Illinois or Indiana have nice places to live with jobs and are not overcrowded."

---

I thoroughly enjoyed the year my father was stationed at Ft Leavenworth, KS. Close proximity to Kansas City (just a hop across the river and down I-29!), Minuteman III silos not too far from our back doorstep, and tornado watching in the summers as a form of entertainment (just remember, if it's moving left or right...it's not coming at you!).

Seriously, Ft Leavenworth and Ft Sam Houston (San Antonio) were easily my two favourite places to live whilst doing the Army brat thing.

Whilst I'd love to live in Asheville, there isn't much for IT there other than the odd commuting job. I have thought of moving to San Jose or Seattle eventually but for right now, this is the place for me! :)

I have wondered if Kansas, Illinois or Indiana have nice places to live with jobs and are not overcrowded. It's getting ridiculous here in the Triangle. It really has maded me think about other places to live. The problem with moving to somewhere else in NC is it's harder to get a good job unless it's in the Triangle, Charlotte, or somewhere like Greensboro and Winston-Salem. And Greensboro and Winston-Salem are just as bad as the Triangle.

I just thought somewhere in the midwest would be nice. That's why I wonder about places in Kansas, Illinois and Indiana. I also wonder about Asheville. I just don't know about the job situation in Asheville.

1. Person County and to be exact - Bushy Fork, there's no place like home. 2. Southern Virginia to be close to Person County and my family. 3. Canada to be near my uncle and his family. 4. Never would I live Mother Earth and if there was no choice, I'd go to the one closest so I could come back a lot!!!

County: Brunswick, particularly the Southport are-lots of water and seems relatively quiet.

State: SC, Charleston area-lots of history and did I say water...or FL, Orlando area- 60-90 min. to...water, east or west, + Disney.

Country: anywhere in the Carribean, just because...

Planet: this one, unless there is one that is completely like the Carribean.

If I had to move to another county, I'd head back to Granville (home).

Another state would be Texas. The weather's nice! :)

Another country would have to be England, Scotland, Ireland, or New Zealand. All four are beautiful, and my ancestors were from the first three.

Another planet... yeah, I'm not leaving this one. There's so much to explore here, why go anywhere else?! :)
