Can you recite all of the towns and counties in North Carolina with European names?  There are more than you might think.

Elizabeth Gardner and I have been compiling a list beginning with Windsor of Bertie County. Windsor was our Hometown Hello profile Monday on WRAL Morning News on Fox 50. Windsor, NC was named after a famous town and castle near London.

Today we are profiling Louisburg on Hometown Hello. Louisburg was named for King Louis XVI of France.

Did you know you can go to Poland in North Carolina? There is a town by the name of Warsaw in Duplin County.

Southern Europe is represented in the North Carolina mountains in the Alleghany County town of Sparta. Ireland is represented by the towns of Dublin in Bladen County and Belfast in Wayne County.

Do you know how NC's second oldest town got its name. New Bern was named after Bern, Switzerland.
