What is the most scenic college setting in the country?
Please weigh in on these two questions.
I started thinking about that this week after reflecting on my weekend in Boone. If you haven't been to Appalachian State lately you need to check it out. It has to rank right up there as one of the loveliest collegiate destinations. The new architecture blends beautifully with the old in a charming mountain setting. My only complaint about Boone is the snail's pace of traffic.
I am also partial to my alma mater in Chapel Hill. The University of North Carolina is hard to beat with its gorgeous old trees and historic landmarks. Plus, I must admit, even as a Tar Heel, I was smitten by the gothic beauty of the Duke campus when I was a youngster attending summer basketball camp in Durham.
Nationwide, my list would include Notre Dame, Stanford, University of Virginia and Flagler College in Florida.
