Bill LeslieBill Leslie's Carolina Conversations
People are always asking me where to take vacation. What's a cool place? What's the most scenic drive? Carolina Conversations attempts to answer those questions and others.

Beauty in the Blue Ridge Mountains

I need your help on another slogan!  You’ve never let me down and I know you won’t this time.

We are starting a new online multimedia project to celebrate the scenic beauty and cultural traditions across North Carolina.  I need two things from you:

1) an umbrella name for this project and

2) ideas on where we should go and what we should cover

We will give three of my CDs “I Am a River,” “Peaceful Journey,” and “Christmas in Carolina” to the winning entry for the name of the project.  We would like something sweet and snappy.

We begin today with a beautiful slide show put together by WRAL Multimedia Producer Nathan Clendenin who captured the beauty and charm of Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis and surrounding areas.

You can look forward to many more presentations like these in the future and have a chance to determine the destinations!

How about "Through Carolina Eyes", or "A View To A Thrill"

Excellent idea, sometimes we can forget how beautiful this state is.

How about "Carolina Splendor"?

1. Our Carolina. 2. go: Isothermal College (what's with the name?) cover: fewer fishing piers at the beach.

I think a great name would be " Under Our Carolina Sky". There are many places in NC to visit, I prefer the mountains.

Carolina Crossings with the simple mountain folk the artists those who lift the spirit of others the places which give us sustenance the vanishing fishermen In other words, the people are just as important as the scenery

"The Old North State: To Be Rather Than to Seem"

I've always loved our motto, and showing the people and places of NC shows how we *are* and not just what we want to be. As for places, there is obviously every inch of our coastline: lighthouses, Ocracoke stables, Core Banks, Morehead City/Beaufort, Historic Wilmington, and every place in between that cannot be mentioned in 1000 characters. Then, our growing cities - Durham's Tobacco district, Uptown Charlotte, Old Salem with Winston's urban backdrop. Add to that our military presence, honoring our troops; our Native American heritage (Lumberton Lumbee, Cherokee, Gastonia Catawba, etc.); Wilson's tobacco heritage; Tarboro's (and others) African American heritage; Revolutionary, Civil and World War history (Kings Mtn, Ft. Fisher, British Cemetaries on OBX, etc); okay, you get the idea... can you tell I love this wonderful state??? :)

All of those are nice but it is North Carolina. It is always Carolina this and Carolina that......South Carolina is allright, but it nor just about any other state has to offer what North Carolina does. Anyway.......

Name suggestions - Natural beauty of North Carolina North Carolina captured North Carolina revealed North Carolina, images and imagination Places to go: see post #1..+ rivers of our state

I meant to say "see post by Broker"....not post #1

sorry

How about "North Carolina Now & Then" or "Through North Carolina Eyes"?

Almost forgot... as to where to go? There's a lot of ground to cover. Start at one side of the state or the other (coast or mountains) and work your way across. Photograph roadside stands when in season, historical places, little known destinations for folks to discover and make the people of NC the focus with our natural scenic beauty as the backdrop.
