Help Wanted: A New Name

Posted May 29, 2007

Dear blogging friends,

Could you help me with something? I feel like my blog needs a new name. Tar Heel Traveler is fine but I'd like to come up with something with a broader scope. This blog is mostly about North Carolina but it's not all travel and sometimes explores areas outside the Old North State.

I know you enjoy contests so here is another one.

I will give a complete set of my 5 CDs and DVD to the person who comes up with the winning name. Feel free to post your ideas here on the blog or email your entry to me at bleslie@wral.com.

If we get enough great entries we will announce a winner at the end of the week. I'd like for the word Carolina to be in the name but it's not mandatory.

Thanks! I can't wait to hear from you!

Making Memories with Carolina's Own: Bill Leslie

  • Celt May 30, 2007

In ancient Celtic culture, the bard traveled widely, saw the world through different eyes, commented on what he saw. He inspired armies as he went into battle, reminded his people of their home, and was the reminder of a world beyond. He was acutely aware of the problems of his land and used his poetry to correct the problems. It was said that a bard could kill with his satire. So, for this column which is the product of a poet and songwriter who travels widely--I suggest the title
"Musings of a Carolina Bard" or more simply
    "Carolina Bard"
