Weekend Getaway: Spa Spectacular

Posted Updated

Are you tired of feeling cold? We're going to pamper and warm ourselves this weekend with a special spa trip. For me it is just an imaginary trip. I'll be performing Saturday night at the new Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center with my group Lorica. We expect and warm and welcoming crowd there.

But if you must hit the road for warmth you might want to check out the huge subterranean spa at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. It is a $32 million dollar gem that has seen the likes of WRAL trafficologist Mark Roberts. It promises to revitalize your mind, body and soul.

If you don't want to travel that far The Spa at Pinehurst is renowned for its aquatherapy tranquility and full body treatment.

Westglow in Blowing Rock is located in a beautiful Greek revival mansion in the shadows of Grandfather Mountain. Westglow is truly a getaway. It is situated on 20 acres of gorgeous mountain scenery.

Other spa spots on the Tar Heel map include Sanderling at Duck, The Spa at Grandover in Greensboro, the Secret Garden Inn & Spa at Weaverville in the mountains, and The Spa at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands.

Spas are expensive.  I have only had one massage in my life.  But it sure was nice on a cold wintry day.  Maybe you're ready.
