Weekend Getaway: Corolla & Duck

We can't resist. With unseasonably warm temperatures the lure of the Tar Heel coast is just too great. Corolla is the magnet this time.

Our weekend getaway will take us to the beautiful beaches north of Nags Head on the Outer Banks. On the way down Highway 64 we will stop off at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island. We'll lunch at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe on the Causeway between Manteo and Nags Head.

We'll check in at Jockey's Ridge and catch the colorful kite flyers. For dinner we'll sample some succulent seafood at the Blue Point restaurant in Duck.

Our accomodations at the Duck Inn will recharge us and prepare us for a busy day of sightseeing including the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Corolla wild horses.

What have I missed? Kayaking in the marine forest, perhaps? It should be warm enough.

i thought the duck inn didn't open until feb. annually? just asking.....

Bill, what R you doing ?! You're a Tarheel, so am I (Havelock / Elon College). But, with all this geography about our once sacred coast, "new to the state" folk tend to over populate, consume what was once clean/pristine, and start new development. It's obvious you know some nice spots, just keep a low down on the few remaining secrets.........

Try the Sunset Grill right at the water tower in Duck. Good eating Key West style. Expected Jimmy Buffett to come in the door any minute. jimfromlumberton
