Let me help you with your Christmas shopping. Pottery makes a great gift and North Carolina has more than 100 potters clustered in the area southwest of the Triangle. One of the many outstanding potters is Cady Clay Works just outside Seagrove. John Mellage and wife Beth Gore turn out some gorgeous pots. My favorite is their Blue Ridge Stoneware Collection. I love John's approach: "The potter has an obligation to create a piece that is technically sound and gracefully balanced." You would expect that from a former engineering student.
