Craving Crab Cakes

I was craving crab cakes over the weekend. So we decided to try the new restaurant at Crossroads in Cary. It's the one with the cool clock tower not far from Target. Bentley's American Grill did not disappoint. My crab cakes were moist, incredibly fresh and free of filler and were paired with some delicious asparagus. They were a bit pricey. $22 for the entree but I felt like I got my money's worth. Where do you go for great crab cakes? I have friends from Maryland who refuse to eat crab cakes around here because they say no one can make them up right. I once had some fine crab cakes at The Peak City Grill in Apex. Elizabeth Gardner is a big fan of Rockfords in Raleigh's Glenwood South. How about you? Who serves us the very best crab cakes in the Triangle?

I vote for the crab cakes at Howard's Pub on Ocracoke Island. They are very meaty but the thing that makes them extra special is the sweet slighty tart raspberry sauce that they drizzle on top on the crab cakes. It is DELICIOUS! I always ask for a side bowl of the sauce to use for extra dipping. You've got to try it!

I just started eating crab cakes in 2005. Tried them at the Angus Barn and loved them. At the coast after Thanksgiving, I had them at the Sanitary Restaurant in Morehead City and the Net House in Beaufort. Last week I had them at the Bistro 1888 just across the border in South Boston, VA. All four places served DELICIOUS crab cakes but Sanitary was the best!

In my humble opinion, I make the best crabe cakes in all of North Carolina. All lump with just a hint of filling. Can't give away the seasonings utilized but only enough to flavor an not mask the terrific taste of crab. The best crabcakes.....right here in Cary!Just ask my wife and friends.

I love the lump crab cakes at Bogart's in Glenwood South. They're served with Hoppin' John(black-eyed peas & rice). Delicious!

The best in my opinion are made my Luther Lewis & Sons CrabHouse in Davis,NC. Miss Nancy makes them you buy them and then cook them up. They are real easy to cook. You should try them.

Can anyone tell me where to get good crab dip in the area? I'm not much on the cakes, but I LOVE a good crab dip.

The Quarterdeck restaurant at Frisco has the very best crab cakes around....and they're VERY secretive of their recipe.

Go to the restaurant at Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest for dinner. Chef Jeff Dowdle makes the best crabcakes I've ever tasted, including in Maryland. All crabmeat! Served with creamy grits. The best you'll find around here. He makes awesome crawfish cakes too.

I'm not a big fan of crab cakes... from anywhere. A few years ago I ate a crab cake sandwich at the Roots Country Market near Manheim, Pennsylvania. It was made by an Amish woman - I was hooked. Everytime I return the Amish Country I have to go to Roots Market to get one. I haven't found a single crab cake in NC that tastes like that!
