Sleepy town by the sea,
Morning wakes quietly.

Beautiful Beaufort. Early morning. I love taking a stroll around town. Or a good hearty run.
Depends on the mood. My sister Stephanie used to own a vacation home here on Ann Street.
I loved getting up early and fetching a steaming cup of coffee and heading out to the waterfront to look at all of the neat and colorful boats. Did you know that Beaufort is the third oldest town in North Carolina? It was founded in 1709 and established four years later. Only Bath and New Bern are older. Blackbeard used to hang out in Beaufort. You may enjoy a pirates museum here. I love the NC Maritime Museum where you can learn a lot about shipwrecks. Beaufort also has one of the most photographed cemeteries in North Carolina - the Old Burying Ground shaded by beautiful live oaks. St. Paul's Episcopal Church is another one of my favorite places in Beaufort. If you are looking for a place to stay I can say from experience that you will enjoy the Beaufort Inn as well as the Pecan Tree Inn and Cedars Inn. Just remember to properly pronounce this seat of Carteret County. It is BOE-furt. The SC town spelled the same is pronounced BEW-furt.
