I had a great meal Saturday night in Blowing Rock with my sister Stephanie and brother-in- law John Scott. There is quite a story behind the restaurant. Fire destroyed Best Cellar Restaurant in Blowing Rock in May. The following month the Inn at Ragged Gardens, which closed its own restaurant two years ago, invited Best Cellar to take over the vacant space. The marriage has been marvelous. The restaurant was packed Saturday night and the food was fabulous. My brother-in-law said the duck he ordered was the best he had ever tasted. My sister's trout was terrific and my glazed salmon was superb. Plus, Ragged Garden is a most savory setting with its handsome blend of stone and wood architecture and flair for flowers.
