"Where the pools are never crowded and the waterslides are nature's own." I came across an old postcard with that inscription the other day. Swimming holes are experiencing a revival across North Carolina. People long for a return to the laid back days of dips, dives and dogpaddles in a cool pool of natural water. My daughter Lauren sent me an email this week about a wonderful trip to a swimming hole near Boone. She says it's offically called the Hebron Rock Colony. Chris Shigas, who manages my musical website at
www.billleslie.com recently shared with me a neat webpage on Tar Heel swimming holes:

The Eno River in Durham has a terrific swimming hole. You can enjoy an old fashioned splash after a scenic river ride. Sliding Rock in the mountains is Elizabeth Gardner's favorite spot. I love Stone Mountain near Elkin and Wilson Creek near Morganton. What about you? What is your favorite swimming hole?
