Durham elections officials ask for more time to do recount
— The Durham County Board of Elections has asked for more time to recount more than 90,000 ballots in the governor's race. The State Board of Elections ordered that the recount be finished by Monday evening, but Durham officials asked to have the deadline pushed back to Wednesday.
McCrory calls special legislative session for hurricane recovery
— Gov. Pat McCrory has asked lawmakers to return to Raleigh on Dec. 13 to handle legislation that would speed recovery efforts after Hurricane Matthew.

Two of my favorite fall destinations are Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville and the Vollmer Farm in Bunn. Their fall activities run the gamut from train rides, fish feeding and gem stone panning to pumpkin slingshots, beehive observatories and cow milking.
