How about a trip to Hatteras this weekend? Hatteras is a healing place this time of year. The fishing is great. The beaches have lost their vacation bustle. And the weather will be warm this weekend, at least today and Saturday. Sport Fishing Magazine recently named the Cape Hatteras National Seashore as one of the top ten fishing spots in the United States, in part, because jet skis are prohibited. Bird watchers will love the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. I think everyone will enjoy the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. I had the honor of narrating several documentaries featured at the museum. Oh, did I mention the lighthouse? The nation's tallest is here and it's a great climb. I still love to stroll the maritime forest at Buxton Woods. This beautiful forest will give you a glimpse of what the area looked like before all the bulldozers arrived. And one of the greatest names in broadcast pronunciation guides is here: the CHICAMACOMICO Lifesaving Station. Quickly say CHICAMACOMICO twelve times in a row as I do each morning as a vocal warm-up exercise. But don't do anything too quickly on Hatteras. It is a great place to relax, listen to the waves, smell the salty air and find a great seafood restaurant. Have a great weekend!
