Where to Pop the Question?

Posted November 30, 2011

Special thanks to Michael Perdue for today's blog topic. Michael is the Senate Page Coordinator at the General Assembly. One of his co-workers is looking for the perfect romantic place in NC to propose marriage.

Elizabeth Gardner had a great idea. If you like the mountains you could take your potential mate on a brief hike from Craggy Gardens near Asheville. The hike takes you to a panoramic view with a strong "wow" factor. You could pop the question there.

I would recommend the Appalachian Trail near Roan Mountain. That is a wide open majestic place. I would also recommend the sweet peace of Bald Head Island or Ocracoke. If it were spring time I would opt for a boat ride on the Roanoke River while listening to the chorus of neotropical songbirds.

How about you? What is the perfect place in North Carolina to pop the question?

Last September my son proposed to his wife at Eastatoe Falls near Rosman, NC. It is a beautiful small waterfall on private property where our family was staying in the guest cottage. Our son-in-law woke up his intended at 4 a.m., drove her from Greenville to Carolina Beach and proposed to her there as the sun rose. You get the best of both worlds in North Carolina!

I was engaged once (never married) and he proposed at the top of the World Trade Center at sunset! Of course this could never happen again . . . IF anyone would like to propose to me AGAIN, I would think the beach - any NC beach - with "Will You Marry Me?" written in the sand. Maybe with the ring sitting inside a shell? Obviously NOT at high tide!

My husband proposed to me in my home. He ask me for a glass of tea and when I went to prepare it, I found a box of long stem red roses, containing 11 and a card that read, "You're the 12th, my love forever" and he was standing behind me by this time and said, 'will you marry me?' I did..we lived happy ever after..

My husband proposed to me at the very tip of Bald Head Island. There was no one around at all. We were only surrounded by water and sand. Very romantic and special.
