Local high school goes pink for breast cancer

It was the annual “Pink Out” game. This year, it was against Holly Springs High School.

“A lot of women have breast cancer so it's good to support and show we're here for you,” Middle Creek sophomore Michaella Dillon said.

The student group, the Creek Crazies, sold T-shirts to raise money for breast cancer research.

“We’re the Creek Crazies, so you have to be crazy to wear all the pink,” Middle Creek senior Ethan Henry said.

Students say they know supporting the fight for a cure for breast cancer now could have save their lives or somebody they know in the future.

“It kind of concerns me. What happens if I get breast cancer? I'm really looking at my future and hoping it won't affect me,” Dillon said.

Middle Creek was recently touched by cancer when football player Rashawn King was diagnosed with leukemia last year.

“He’s had to fight through that for a year. So, I think it's important for people to know to ask their doctor questions…and know about at risk situations and what could happen,” Middle Creek senior Jennifer Wright said.
