It's The Shoes

    The weekend is here. Wooo-Hooo!!!

There will definitely be some running going on for me, but I've got a field trip planned before I enjoy one of those relaxing zen runs. Ha!

I've decided I need to bring my shoes in for a check up at my favorite local running shoes franchise.  I am not sure if I should reveal the name of the business.  I don't want to ruffle any feathers about favoritism and free advertising.

Suffice it to say, it's a business I've been patronizing for years.  They know their shoes, and they know my feet.

You see, I have a little problem with pronation. I'm being modest.  I have a big problem, really.  If any of you are similarly situated, then you know the wrong shoe can cause great discomfort and even injury.  Can I get an amen?

There's nothing wrong with the fit of my running shoes.  I'm worried about their age.  Of course they look perfectly fine, but we all know that looks can be deceiving.  I want to make sure they're still holding up just fine as I continue to train for the big race that's coming up.

Here's a mistake I don't want to make twice:  Waiting until my knees started throbbing before it occurred to me that it was the SHOES!!

If it's time to buy a new pair, then I want to go ahead and do that.  What I don't want to do is break in a new pair of running shoes days before the 5k.

Say, did you know there's a fantastic charity that dedicated to delivering shoes to needy people around the world? It's called Soles for Souls.  You can find out more about this wonderful organization by going to WRAL.com.  Just type "weblinks" in the keyword search box.

That's where my old running shoes will be going:  To Soles for Souls.  What about yours? There are drop off bins at many of the New Balance Stores as well as Athlete's Foot.

Are your running shoes in tip-top shape?  How can YOU tell when it's time to buy a new pair?

Wohoo! Go Pam! I'm in agreement about the right shoes. I can tell now just by trying them on if they will kill my feet, ankles, or kness in a week. It's the worst to spend cash on some shoes to find out in a week that you must get rid of them. Keep up the good work, Pam!

I would like to know what shoe store that you go to. I would be very interested in it because I think when I workout that I may have on the wrong shoes or not the correct shoes for the type of workout!!
