Pink trash cans fuel breast cancer fight
The local non-profit group 1 in 9 is selling pink trash cans to raise awareness that one in nine women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Money from the cans go directly to help breast cancer patients through treatment.
Teams drive success of Komen race
More than 22,000 people took part in the 2009 race, raising more than $650,000 in donations. Organizers expect a similarly good turnout this year, with 762 teams already registered for the race, scheduled for June 12 at Meredith College.
