FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Several animals dropped off at the former Cumberland County animal shelter have had to be euthanized, officials said.

A new shelter opened this month on Corporation Drive in Fayetteville, but people continue to drop animals at the old location on Eastern Boulevard. A large sign at the old site notes the building is closed.

Eleven animals have been left at the old location in recent days, and at least half had to be euthanized, officials said.
