RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman has been charged with animal cruelty after several malnourished dogs were seized from her property, police said Monday.

Sharita L. Grady, 26, of 704 Quarry St., was charged with five counts of animal cruelty and was being held in the Wake County Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.

Authorities confiscated nine dogs from Grady's property, of which eight had to be euthanized. One dog is in the custody of SPCA of Wake County.

Grady also was cited for not keeping one of the dogs' rabies shots up to date.
