Barking points: WRAL's dog blog

Hi! I'm WRAL's newsroom dog. I spend most of my work day sleeping in my mom's office, when I'm not getting petted and walked by my newsroom pals. I will also be featured on some upcoming WRAL-TV and WRAL.com segments.

Lots of yummy treats at COPE event

Hi Everybody!

Well, I’m back from the beach and boy, did we have an interesting trip! We had a great time, but it rained and rained and rained a couple of days and Mom said we had 8 whole inches of the wet stuff! Our back yard flooded and some neat creatures showed up…bull frogs and snapping turtles and birds and my Mom said she was surprised we didn’t have fishies swimming in the yard! I got to go to the beach though when it cleared up and I’m getting used to the wet sand and shells and stuff. I got in the water a little bit, but it’s hard with my leash on. It felt pretty good though! I got a nice warm bath after my little dip and that felt even better. We headed home Friday and stopped at my favorite resting place on I-40 and Dad got out of the car to go in the little building and left me behind! So, when Mommy opened the door to put on my leash, I jumped out of the car and ran after Dad. Mom started running after me and I thought, well she must want to catch up with Dad too, but I couldn’t find him so I ran around the building and Mom was freaking out [why does she do that?] and I saw this nice man sitting on a bench so I ran up to him and gave him a big ol’ kiss and the lady with him grabbed my collar and held me until Mom got there. Poor Mommy…she was running as fast as she could, but she got stung by a bunch of fire ants at the beach and her feet were hurting so she couldn’t keep up with me. But, she got the leash on me and I don’t know why but she felt she had to hug me a bunch and then she handed me off to Dad who wondered what on earth was going on. Anyway, those people were real nice and Mommy thanked them over and over. Humans are funny. Oh oh oh! And on Saturday, I had the best time of all! We went to the Celebrity Paws for COPE event at Lake Lynn Park in Raleigh and it was just awesome! Mom says it was for a very good cause that we were happy to support and I just thought it was neat cause there were lots of other doggies there and young humans and old humans and a painting dog and doggies who could do tricks and a police dog [whew he was B-I-G] and people who wanted to meet little ol’ me! I got lots of yummy treats and gave puppy kisses and Mom said I was very very good. DUH! I get to go to another big event for the AKC on September 26, so come out to see me if you can! I went to Doggie Dayschool today and training too so I’ll let ya know how that went tomorrow!

Later!

Tracker - If you're looking for something REALLY fun to do, you should ask your mom & dad to take you to Mutt Strut. It's the best place for a dog to see and be seen and it's a great fundraiser for the dogs and cats at the Wake County Animal Center. They'll be a short walk, treats, vendors, treats, demos, treats and some doggie contests! It's Nov 7th - All the info is here http://www.wakegov.com/pets/dogwalk/default.htm. If you want to join us, please contact me at kristineberry@yahoo.com for more information. Thanks!!

Tracker: Sounds like such fun you're having! Thanks for going to the COPE event -- so many people are helped with COPE's services and their events are so special for them so they can make money to help more people. Glad you enjoyed the beach and glad you found a nice couple to "hold onto you" 'til mom could arrive! Stay sweet --

Tracker - I am Onyx and one day, I got away from my mommy and she freaked out also - humans do that - she now puts a halter on me before going out because I have figured out how to get out of my collar - I won't tell you the trick, though - your mother may get mad at me - Love reading your blog -
