Dear Miss Fifi:
Angel is an eight month old female. Is she too young to go into heat? I want to have her fixed ... what is a good age to have this done?

Dear Tabitha:
We have a new pup at our house, so Miss Fifi recently overheard this discussion. For our puppy, Magnolia May, she went into heat about a week before she turned six months. The vet said he could perform the operation, but the cost would be higher because her girlie organs would be swollen (or the equivalent doctorly term). So my humans opted to let her wait another two months for everything to shift back to "normal," and have her spayed at eight months. I'm sure her surgery will be sometime at the end of this month.
I would suggest that you talk with your vet, because your question is a fairly regular topic they discuss, I'm most positive. Bob Barker will be happy to know you're acting responsibly on behalf of your precious pup.
