Question:
I take my new puppy out all the time for long periods of time why as soon as we come in she is either peeing or pooping on the floor what can i do?
A: House training is a very difficult task.
Sometimes, if your puppy smells an area where he/she has urinated or defecated in the house, he/she will go in the same spot. Dogs have the tendency to use the bathroom in the same places. I would recommend taking some of his/her poop and pee outside and put it in an area of the yard where you want your puppy to go to the bathroom. Then, when you take your puppy outside, take him/her to that area in the yard, and hopefully the smells will stimulate him/her to do his/her business. Then, give your puppy a treat!
I would also recommend teaching your puppy to urinate and defecate on command. For now, while your puppy is still young, just say "Go Potty" over and over while he/she is using the bathroom. The younger the puppy, the harder to train. But, stay the course! It won't be long and he/she will figure it out!
Keep in mind your puppy will need to defecate shortly after eating any meals.
