Question:
My female cat was spayed when she was a kitten, however pretty much every night she cries and cries as she carries a little stuffed animal or a balled up sock around the house. She is 3 years old. Is it possible she wasn't spayed or why does she do this?
A: I would recommend keeping tract of the frequency your cat demonstrates this behavior.
Do you have any other pets? Is this a new behavior or something she has always done?
It sounds like your cat is exhibiting a territorial behavior. This would be very unique, but is possible.
I would recommend keeping track of often your cat is doing this. If it is not every night, but seems to cycle every 21 days, she may actually have an ovarian remnant still left. If this is the case, she is actually going into heat and that is why she is behaving the way she is. If there is a cycle to it, I would recommend taking her to your veterinarian. Usually, if there is a remnant of an ovary left in the abdomen, surgical removal is the best option. The surgery would need to be performed when she was in heat, so to better visualize the structure.
