Earth Day 2008 weekend events

Earth Day 2008 is just around the corner, on Tuesday, April 22. The Triangle has a great schedule of events over the weekend to help celebrate Mother Nature and raise awareness on how we can all be ecologically responsible.

I found a fabulous consolidated listing of events for Saturday, April 19, on Visit Raleigh dot com, and added a couple others around town. One of the coolest things noted in Raleigh:

"Capital Area Transit is offering a system-wide bus fare free day on April 19. Visitors are also encouraged to bike to events, CAT buses are equipped with bike racks for riders who may want to bike to a bus stop and ride to the event.”

Check out these links to see if anything calls your name:

Don't forget to take the Earth Day Ecological Footprint Quiz. My total footprint is 17, and the form notes,  "In comparison, the average ecological footprint is 24 acres per person. Here's one of the few times when it's cool to be below average!"

What does your family have planned to celebrate Earth Day? I think we'll spend some time in the garden, not driving anywhere.

You have a great calendar of events. All adults and children should be more conscious of ways to protect and preserve everything around us. Thanks for the great listings of events. Good stuff.

Thanks for always keeping your readers informed about ecological issues in such an interesting way.
