Two hundred UNC Health Care physicians have been named among the state’s best doctors on BusinessNC.com, the Web site of "Business North Carolina" magazine.

The magazine pulled North Carolina’s 2008-2009 list from a comprehensive, nationwide database compiled by Boston-based Best Doctors Inc.

The Best Doctors database contains the names and professional affiliations of approximately 40,000 doctors in the United States, all chosen through an exhaustive peer-review survey that asks: “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?”

According to "Business North Carolina," the state’s list is close to 50 percent longer this year than in the past, due to the record number of responses.

There are 1,300 doctors listed, which is less than 5 percent of North Carolina's 29,000 licensed physicians.

I love how this article fails to mention that over 250 Duke doctors are on that list. http://www.dukehealth.org/HealthLibrary/HealthArticles/duke_doctors_rate_with_peers_around_state

It's kind of hard to respond to your insulting comments without sounding like I'm knocking NC State's School of Vet Medicine. I'm not. It's a great school. UNC Healthcare provides some of the best care in the nation.I work with cancer patients there, both adult and children, and can assure you that very few share your opinion.

Contrary to what the polls may say, the best doctoprsd in NC are trained at the corner of Blue Ridge Road and Hillsbrough St.,next to the NCState Fairgrounds. Compare its reputation in its field to the ewenc doctors and there are cases that I would take a vet any time.

I agree 100% with Dr. William Adamson making the list for pediatric surgeons. He is great!!! He performed surgery on our four week old baby and made us feel at total ease. Hopefully we will never have the need for a pediatric surgeon again but if so he would be my first choice.

My son once wanted to be a Vet. His comment was not everyone can get into vet. school, it's real hard. But the ones who don't make it into vet school go to medical school. After that, everytime I see a new physician, I wonder if he/she wanted to first be a vet.
