Individual tickets for N.C. Symphony kids concerts on sale Monday
Beethoven; 'Green Eggs and Ham;' and insects are all part of the N.C. Symphony's Young People's Series this season.

These hour-long concerts are geared towards kids ages 4 to 12 and are a great way to introduce them to classical music. Single tickets are $20 a piece. The cost for tickets for all three concerts as a series is $36 total, a nice savings. These make great gifts for birthdays and holidays too.
Here's what's on the schedule for this season's Young People's Series:
- Beethoven Lives Upstairs, called one of the "most completely wondrous examples of children's entertainment ever," by Billboard, will feature live performances of some of Beethoven's greatest works. It follows the story of a young boy who meets Beethoven, a boarder in his parents home. Concerts are at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 19.
- Rob Kapilow, composer of The Polar Express, will put his unique spin on Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham." Kapilow was called the Bill Nye the Science Guy for classical music by Time Out New York. Concerts are at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Jan. 7.
- And hear the orchestra imitate the sounds of the bug world during Bug Songs at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. March 10. Dress like your favorite insect and you could win prizes.
I've learned the hard way that these concerts can and do sell out. So be sure to get your tickets if you have your heart set on a particular concert.
