Consignment sale for tweens, teens this weekend

Their kids have grown up shopping the twice yearly consignment sales for clothes and toys and love doing it. But the moms have noticed their older kids' interest waning as they had to sort through toddler toys and baby blankets to search for items they needed.

Teens Going Green will cater to tweens and teens, with clothing in youth sizes 10 and up; small, medium, large and extra-large for guys and girls; junior sizes 0 to 17; and misses sizes 2 to 16. Shoppers may also find cell phones and accessories and gaming equipment. The sale will accept those items from consignors if they bring them.

Persson and Kolb hope to create a teen-friendly atmosphere, which will include playing the music  teens are listening to these days.

Kolb and Persson tell me they've gotten some great responses from consignors. They're hearing from moms and kids who are cleaning out closets together and kids who are enjoying some friendly competition as they try to sell more than a sibling.

"A lot of moms have said they are especially thankful for a teen event," Kolb tells me.

The sale is 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday when some items are half off. Kolb and Persson tell me they expect to have thousands of items. It's at the Cary Masonic Lodge, 1142 Southeast Maynard Rd., around the corner from Cary Towne Center and across from East Cary Middle School.
