The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke in Durham has started a new drop-in craft program for all ages this summer.

Summer Make and Takes are 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 18. It won't be offered on Tuesday, July 26. Nasher provides the craft materials and you make what you want with it. On a recent evening, visitors created their own jazz solo on kazoos that they made and decorated.

Sounds like a fun activity this summer. Upcoming programs include 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Thursday, when participants will collaborate to decorate an old wooden chair with flowers, mini-sculptures and more. And from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 12, you can use simple shapes and materials like colored masking tape and fancy contact paper to create your own abstract masterpiece.

Click here for Nasher's website. Admission to Nasher is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free for kids ages 15 and under.
Nasher also has fun gallery hunts for families. Click here for more on that.
