I wanted to share that two personal trainers in Carrboro are gauging the interest in a boot camp fitness program for moms.

Gina Lacava and Carolina Hurant are offering two free 45-minute classes at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and June 25 at Henry Anderson III Park off of Highway 54W in Carrboro. They'll meet in front of the tennis courts located on the right once you've entered the park.

Lacava, a mom of three boys, tells me that she knows how much exercise benefits her mental health and wants to help other moms find coping mechanisms to deal with the stress of family life.

"I have found that exercising with a group of women is beneficial on many levels, such as sharing advice about child rearing, dealing with husbands, dealing with aging parents, working outside of the home, feelings of inadequacy," she wrote me. "I really enjoy bonding with other women over such a basic, positive activity as exercise."

Lacava holds certifications in kickboxing, cycle, strength & conditioning, sports conditioning, boot camp, aqua, and personal training. Hurant graduated with a Master’s of Science from the George Washington University in Exercise Science and Nutrition in 2008. She is a certified yoga trainer and has also worked to attain training and certification in many practices including Pilates, cycle, strength and conditioning, boot camp, TRX, crossfit and personal training.

The two don't have a website yet. If you have any questions, contact Lacava at glacava@nc.rr.com.
