I'm sad to say that strawberry season is nearing its end for the year. But that just means that blueberry and blackberry season is nearly here!

While there aren't nearly as many farms that allow the public to pick their own blueberries or blackberries, there are some in the region. So click here to check our database for pick-your-own opportunities. As always, be sure to check in with the farm to make sure that they have berries ready for you to pick.

And speaking of blueberries, Blueberry Day at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. You'll find blueberry recipes, lots of blueberries and some other activities.

Why does the Farmer's Market always have those Strawberry Days, or Blueberry or Whatever Days during the middle of the day in the middle of the week? Is that so that the employees of the market are the only ones who can participate?
