Art museum's Wednesday children's series starts this month

The series runs on most Wednesday afternoons from June to August and features storytelling, puppet shows, theater, live music and other kinds of entertainment for kids. The programs, which are typically about 50 minutes long, are designed for kids 5 and up (though you're welcome to bring younger children as long as they don't disrupt the performance). All performances are at 1 p.m. They are a fun way to cool off on a hot summer day.

“Great Stories for Young Folks” with Gran’daddy Junebug / Mitch Capel will kick off the series at 1 p.m. June 15. The museum's website says kids will "find out what “sto’etry” is all about through this selection of engaging and inspiring stories told in rhyme."

I also would recommend Trish Miller, who performs at 1 p.m. July 13 (though I'd say she definitely appeals to audiences younger than five or six too). I've heard some great things about Hobey Ford's Golden Rod Puppets, who you'll find at the museum on Aug. 3. And Rags to Riches Theatre for Young Audiences, which is there on Aug. 10, is a favorite.

If you're a Wonderful Wednesday regular (or regular of the museum's other children's series), you'll notice that ticket prices have gone up. They are now $5 for the general public and $3 for museum members. They used to be free for members and $3 for everybody else. It's the first fee increase in almost a decade.
