The N.C. Museum of History offers regular programs for kids. Here's what's on tap for July.

  • History Corner: I Dig History. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 6. For ages 6 to 9 with adult. Fee is $1. Get your hands dirty and learn some history! Explore what archeology teaches us about people who lived long ago and listen to stories about historical discoveries. To register, call 919-807-7992.
  • History Hunters: July 4 on Fayetteville Street. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 6. For ages 10 to 13. Fee is $1. Fireworks? Parades? Elephants? Come find out how Raleigh has celebrated the Fourth of July over the years. To register, call 919-807-7992.
  • 2nd Saturdays: Lynn Burcher, Bead Maker. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9. Chat with this glass crafter and learn how she creates glass objects. Visitors also can make a paper bead or two after you watch Burcher at work. That drop-in program also is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Time for Tots: A Patriotic Parade. 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., July 12. For ages 3 to 5 with adult. Fee is $1. Learn about how we celebrated the Fourth of July in the past and then make a decoration for waving in a patriotic parade! To register, call 919-807-7992.
