Normally I tell you stories about my crazy kids. Well today, I'm switching gears a bit because I had a retail experience unlike any other.

I've thought for many years, for the most part, that customer service was dead. Here and there you'd get someone who gave it their all, but not very often. Well, I'm here to tell you, I met the guru of customer service. And she works at Walmart in Cary.

Her name is Andrea and she's that mother hen type. Watching her work, you'd think everyone who came through her check-out line in the outdoor area was family.

In front of me, she helped a young boy count out all his change so he could buy fishing gear. On the tenderness and caring scale, she ranked about an 11 out of 10. She oozed a love of humanity.

Then, another employee came up, thanked her for helping him out and gave her a stack of coupons from the Sunday paper. Being a coupon clipper myself, with a stack in hand, I was curious.

I asked her if she was a couponer. She said, "Honey yes! I was going to give you some until I saw you already had some." I replied with a most intelligent, "huh?" She said, "honey look at this."

She proceeded to pull out a three ring binder stuffed full of coupon filled baseball card sheets! I've got one of those too, but most of the time I don't have it organized. Hers, on the other hand, looked like the Holy Grail of coupon books! She musta had at least 40 pages of cut out coupons! I said, "Andrea, what in the world do you do with all those?" She said, "Well I hand them out to customers, honey!"

Are you following me on this? She spends I don't know how much of her own time to cut out all those coupons, organize them, and than hand them out based on what you buy! She's one of the friendliest cashiers I know AND she wants to save you money!

She's the real deal.
