Wanted to quickly share that the Polar Ice House of Garner will have two skating clinics this week. Note that kids must have taken some prerequisites to attend.

Here are the details:

  • The Basic Skills Clinic is for skaters ages 5 and up who have skated in Basic 1-8, Hockey Basics and Youth Learn to Play classes. Areas that will be covered include skating skills, spins, turns and transitions, jumps, warm up/cool down and skate equipment maintenance. Hockey Basics will feature the same areas but will also include passing and shooting and stick handling. It's 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. The fee is $50.
  • A Spring Tune-Up Clinic will also be offered for more experienced skaters from Basic 5 classes and higher. Throughout the morning, skaters will work on artistry, power and edge, turns and transitions, jumps and spins video review, warm up/cool down and strength and conditioning. It's from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 20. The cost is $65.
Kids also can stay the entire day in the Cool Tracking Camp, which runs until 5:30 p.m. for an additional $15 per day. For more information on either clinic, go the Polar Ice House's website or email Ice House Skating Director Marilyn Nolte at Marilyn.nolte@polaricehouse.com.
