Wake Forest launches child safety seat inspection program

Posted April 6, 2011

A quick note to share that Wake Forest is starting up a child safety seat inspection and education program.

According to a release, car crashes are the No. 1 killer of kids ages 3 to 14. And four out of every five child seats are installed incorrectly.

The free program includes a permanent inspection station at the Wake Forest Police Department, 225 S. Taylor St. and annual community outreach events. All child seat inspections and education program activities are by appointment only.

To make an appointment, or for more information, contact Agent J. Chitwood at 919-435-9596. has a list of other places where you can get car safety checks across the region as well.

And as a reminder: Two national groups recently released some recommendations on car seat safety. Check my earlier post.
