Two groups have teamed up to present workshops for parents and teachers of special needs children.

The Special Education & Inclusions Committee of the Wake PTA and the Exceptional Children's Assistance Center will offer Writing Effective IEPs: 101 and Writing Effective IEPs: Beyond the Basics. IEPs are Individualized Education Plans which chart out an education program that is designed to meet an individual child's needs.

The workshops are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 11 at WakeMed Raleigh Campus, on the second floor of the Health Park Pavilion, 3000 New Bern Ave., in Raleigh.

These are one of about three or four workshops the Special Education & Inclusions Committee offers each year on education topics for parents and educators of children with special needs. They are free and no registration is required. The group also runs a Google group were parents and teachers can ask questions and gather resources.

The committee's meetings are open to the public and there are no fundraisers involved with the group.
