Lynda Loveland: Too asleep to think!

You may think this is about overworked, overtired moms. It could be. But it’s not. It’s about the bizarre things kids say or do while half asleep.

Take my son for instance. He had a nightmare and got in bed with me in the middle of the night. He woke up while I was skimming through American Idol. (I didn’t get to watch the night before and I wanted to see it before going in to work.)

He sat up right in the middle of Scotty McCreery’s performance. He had an inquisitive look on his face and his hair looked like Albert Einstein’s, minus the bald part. He watched for a couple of seconds, smiled and said, “That’s my favorite song!”

First of all he’s never heard that song and never listened to country music! At that point, I was trying to figure out which show to watch - American Idol or The Wild Haired Boy Show! Caiden watched for another minute than said, and this was the best, “That’s just how Scooby Doo does it!” And than he was out cold.

Stuff like that ever happen to you?

Oh daughter did things like that around the elementary school age...Come downstairs from being asleep and take the remote and change channels..and return to bed! In middle and high school, my daughter would wake us with the shower going and radio blaring...getting ready for school at 4:00 a.m.! Although this happened only a few times.. She was so upset...but we all got a laugh from it!
By the way..Rebecca is a perfectly normal 23 yr. Old and no harm from those episodes!

When my son was 6 years old, we woke up to him screaming "I can't find you" Mom, Dad, Where are you.....When we realized what was going on he was outside running around in our yard screaming for us. That was over 10 years ago.

My 6 year old daughter recently started coming into our bed at all times of the night with the comment that "leprechan's freak me out..." I'll be glad when March is over!

My daughter sleepwalks and will carry on an entire conversation with you and never know it. She has not done it in about a year. children + sleepwalking = scary

All the time! Daughter could be in our bed (knocked out), hubby & I are talking. She will blurt out something and then go right back to sleep.
