Lynda Loveland: Bieber fever

Posted March 2, 2011

Lynda Loveland

My kids, ages four, five and seven, have yet to really get into any kid or teen celebrity crush thing. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid it. When it comes to the tube, they prefer Dora, Superheros or Animal Planet, among others.

But the tide is turning.

My two oldest are well aware of Justin Bieber. They claim to not like him even though I catch my son saying "baby, baby, baby ooh."

My four-year-old is a different story. She informed me that she wanted to marry "Justin Beaver," as she calls him. I said, do you know who Justin Bieber is? She said yes, he’s Justin Beaver. I said, what does he do? She said, and I quote, “he gets all the girls!”

What??? You're four! Is there a vaccine for this yet?

Lynda is the mom of three and co-host of Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM's Bill & Lynda in the Morning. Find her here on Thursdays.

Ha! This is so funny. My little girl will be 4 in a few weeks and she informed that she wants a Justin Fever party. I have corrected her about the name but she says "I know mom, but I call him Justin Fever!" I think it's cute. She doesn't want to marry him though....she says she is going to marry her Daddy.

My daughter LOOOOVED Justin Bieber for about 6 months--she had posters, fan club membership, etc. It really didn't bother me though. He's just another version of Shawn Cassidy, Leif Garrett (I know, I'm dating myself here)and all the others. To each generation their own girly/boy pop singer. Better than Marilyn Manson... :-)

According to a recent article, little Justin says America is "evil" because we don't provide "free" health care for everyone. If you are an American, I guess you are evil too. We "evil" Americans are the ones buying his CD's and going to his concerts and making him "RICH." Let's see, who was it that made him rich, us "evil" Americans, or his sweet Canada? Maybe he should go back to Canada and be Justin "Nobody" again...just sayin'.....

justin beaver- that's what my 6 year old calls him, too! it irritates my 12 year old, but it is hilarious to me!

My three year old used to call him "Just a Beaver." She also says she is going to marry him, and some days she says she IS him, and gets mad if we call her by her real name.

my daughter (8) likes him and unfortunately, the kids at school have made fun of her for that (although i know some of them must like him too). any time a JB song comes on my son says 'iiiit's justin beaver', which makes my daughter crazy but makes me laugh. i now call him justin beaver as well! we saw the movie and it was cute and it made my daughter happy, she smiled and sang his songs all the way home.

I am happy that my 9 and 11 year old could care less about Justin Beiber. They don't like him. Nor do they care for the Jonas Brothers. It has made me feel good to know that they don't feel like they have to like these celebrities because "everyone else does".

Funny your little daughter says Justin Beaver.....At work last week, one of my female co-workers was filing nearby when she blurted out loudly....."I Have Beaver Fever"....there was a slight pause, and she corrected herself..."I mean Bieber Fever"....and the entire office staff broke into LOL!!!
