I know many of you will want to mark your calendars for this one. N.C. State's very popular Farm Animal Days is set for March 16 to March 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event gives kids a chance to see and touch farm animals and learn about agriculture. It's designed for school field trips, but families and small groups are more than welcome. I just recommend that you get there as close to 9 a.m. as you can. That's when I got there last year and it filled up pretty quickly. Organizers also say that 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. also isn't as busy.

Kids will get to touch everything from chicks, turkeys and ducks to pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits. Tractors will be on display. And there's more. It takes about an hour to see it all.

Check the website for more details. Farm Animal Days is at Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory, 3720 Lake Wheeler Rd., about two miles south of Interstate 40.
