Maybe you have one of these at home. My three-year-old daughter, for some reason, thinks she’s entering Meymandi Concert Hall when she walks into the bathroom. I can hear her warming up her vocal chords as she shuts the door behind her.

A minute later, she gets “settled” and I hear the first few lines. “I love my Barbie. She has pretty clothes and blonde hair.” She doesn’t sing cover tunes. Oh no, she’s all original. She makes up songs about anything and everything she sees.

After hearing about putting Barbie’s hair in a ponytail, Carys stops for a second. Just a milli-second, and she changes tunes. In a very dramatic, diva-esque voice she sings, “I cut the CHEESE. I CUT the cheese.” She managed to make a two-minute song out of those four words. Try keeping a straight face during that recital!

I KNOW you know what I’m talking about.

Lynda is the mom of three and co-host of Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM's Bill & Lynda in the Morning. Find her here on Thursdays.
