No my family has not been on a big train before but have been on the kid train (Ellerbee Creek Railway) at Durham Museum of Life and Science. My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves it!

My daughter loves trains. The biggest one we been on is at the zoo. We do plan to do the one in blowing rock though.

We have been on Thomas Train!! When Thomas came to the NC Transportation Museum, we all rode Thomas Train. It was great fun!

I have a 10 year old and 4 year old twins who love Thomas. We went to Tweetsie and saw Thomas there. The twins were absolutely delighted delighted to be riding on a train thru the mountains actuall being pulled by Thomas.

My grandson loves Thomas. I once road a train from Munich to Berlin Germany

I don't tweet but my longest train ride was from Bloomington, Il to Pontiac, Il. A grand distance of 35 miles. The train was filled wsih boys scouts (brothers), girl scouts (me) and our leaders of which my mom was one. If the Metro in Wasington, DC, Blatimore, Md, Atlanta Ga. or the "L" in Chicago count, I have ridden many but it is really not the same.

We've been on the Thomas ride and a long train ride up the atlantic coast.

The only train I can remember being on is the one at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham :) My 2yo LOVES Thomas!

My longest train ride has been 7 hours to Philadelphia. I take my daughter every year on the Amtrak Santa Train which goes from Raleigh to Greensboro. She loves it!

I have been on a 3 hour train ride in Pennysylvania and in the mountains of NC. My 2 yr old daughter loves Thomas and can sing the theme song. She watched a Thomas DVD over and over on our trip to Ohio in December. Can't wait to take her to see Thomas in Spencer or at Tweetsie. She would love to see the show in Raleigh, too!

Longest trip has been around the mountain on the Tweetsie Railroad.

Never been on a real one...just the little kids ones. But those are fun! :)

Yes, I love riding trains. The longest train ride was when our family took a round trip ride on The Carolinian from Greensboro to Charlotte. What great fun!!

The only train ride I've ever taken was the train at Tweetsie. Does that even qualify?!? And, now, I'm off to get a twitter account! My son LOVES Thomas, and his birthday is coming up - what a cool way to celebrate this would be!!

I have never ridden on a train but have always wanted to!

The longest train ride I have taken was from Glasgow, Scotland, to London, England, to visit my cousin who was at Chick Sands Air Force Base. I was traveling with a friend after graduating from Old Dominion University in Virginia, and it was 9 or 10 hours through countryside along the west coastline--absolutely stunning and beautiful. We had a compartment completely to ourselves, could put the armrests down, and take a nap. The trip back was equally enjoyable-- quiet, passing seascapes, farms and pastures, fields divided by rock fence,s and many, many cows and sheep. I now have a 20-month old grandson who loves wheels and of course trains. He received his first Thomas the Train set this Christmas, a beginning to a future filled with trains. He would be absolutely mesmerized to see Thomas for "real." Thanks for this opportunity to be a part of that.

We take our 4 kids on the train at Hillridge Farms every year :) They have never been on a "real" train. I bet they would LOVE it. My 3 year old son is obsessed with Thomas the Train so I know he would be thrilled!

Good luck to all :)

When I was 5 years old we took a trip to Disney World. We traveled by train from Connecticut.

retweeted!

My husband and I took a tour of our beautiful North Carolina mountains on the Great Smokey Mountains Train...we went about twenty miles. We departed out of Dillsboro. The scenery was spectacular! Our twins...now two and a half LOVE "Choo Choo Thomas" and I am sure would love to see him!

My family and I enjoyed an hour long train ride on the New Hope Valley Railway a couple of years ago. The kids really enjoyed it. We also went on a ride on the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad.

We were able to go to Day out with Thomas 3 years ago and my son still talks about it and asks when we can do that again. Now my youngest is that same age and loves trains. Would love to be able to go to this. Thanks!

My wife and I are fostering a child that loves Thomas the train and he especially loves Percy. I've never had the opportunity to ride on a train however I believe that this would be an exciting opportunity to adventure out with my family for "Thomas' Day Out"

I have been on the train at Tweetsie Railroad but that's the extent of my train travels! My kids are obsessed with Thomas now, so I guess we will have to plan a train trip soon.

I have taken a train ride in the North Carolina Mountains for a two hour tour and it was beauitful. i am now looking to take one through Canada. My grandson just loves Thomas the Train!!

Several trains - took the overnight from St Petersburg to Moscow once - that's probably the longest. I've found taking trains in Europe to be faster, cheaper, and less stressful than driving. Here, I've found driving to be faster, cheaper, and less streesful. Go figure.

// My son would love to see Thomas!

I've taken a train across upstate NY, and we've taken our children on the New Valley train a few times. They love it!

I've been on a train while visiting Europe when in high school. it really wasnt that long of a trip!

I follow WRALMoms on Twitter bkeepsushonest

I have never been on a train. Well with exception to amusement park trains.

I have never been on a train. Would love the experience though

We did the Day out with Thomas 2 years ago in Spencer. My son loved it and he loves Thomas. I hope we can go to the show.

On National Train Day in May we took the train to Richmond and back :)

the only kind of train ride I've ever been on is the kind at amusement parks - Hershey and the like. i'd love to travel on one someday, though!

Yes, an overnight trip with my cousin, teenage sister and grandfather. It may have only been overnight, but in such tight quarters it felt longer!

We did a field trip on Amtrack from Raleigh to Selma and then to the movies to see Polar Express. It was a lot of fun and great to see places we go by everyday via the train. Good family time!

The farthest I've ever been on a train is around the theme park at Tweetsie Railroad! I've been on the train at Tweetsie as a child and again this past summer at the Day Out with Thomas with my husband and kids. My 3 year-old son LOVES Thomas and absolutely LOVED riding Thomas!

I've never traveled on a train, but would love to! Especially through the Appalachin Mountains! As for my 2 year old, he would love, love, love to see Thomas in person!! Thank you for the chance!

My husband and I took our daughter on the Polar Express in Dillsboro. We probably went 15 miles or so through the beautiful North Carolina mountains on the Great Smokey Mountains Train. Our daughter would sure love a chance to see Thomas!

My Aunt, Uncle, Mother, and I took my 3 year old son to 'Day Out with Thomas' in Spencer September 2010. We got to ride on the cars attached to the original Thomas the Tank Engine. My little boy absolutely adores Thomas! :)

We took a train to Washington DC a few years ago. So much fun!!

The longest trip or at least it felt like was the train ride at Cass Railroad in WV. It's cold and windy, not as much fun as Day out with Thomas.

My husband and I went on a train excursion on our honeymoon. My son, Caleb LOVES trains...especially Thomas. He loves the train at Dollywood, too. No long train rides for us, the honeymoon one was about 2 hours!

Yes, I have been on a train. My longest train ride was from Rocky Mount to South Carolina.

I have never been on a train

My first grade class rode the train from Asheville to Old Fort. We went through several tunnels and the whole class screamed when the cars went dark! It was a great trip that I will never forget...all those years ago! Our Room Moms picked us up in Old Fort and we had a picnic at the rest area on Black Mountain.

I have been on two trains - one at Tweetsie Railroad and the train at Pullen Park. They were both exciting because I was so young. They are still fun to ride now to be able to see the excitement on my children's faces as they ride.

I rode the train once as a child. I grew up in Henderson, NC and Amtrak was stopping service through town so my mom took me and my brother to Richmond for the day just so we could say we rode on the train!

I backpacked through Europe for several weeks in college and spent hours on the train between western European countries. But the longest train ride I probably spent was from Brugge, Belgium, to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest for opening weekend in September, 1993. My girlfriends and I were in London, took the train to the coast, a hydrofoil to Brugge, then the train to Munich... a 36 hr trip! We spent about a day and a half there, then turned around and headed back to London! :)~

Hi my name is Heidi, but to everyone else I am Baileys mom. Bailey and I have rode the train at the Museaum of Life and Science, it was AMAZING. The best thing to do after a train ride is to go out to eat at our favorite place Golden Corral. The museum is free for Durham residents on Wednesday between 1pm and 4pm by the way. We would love to see Thomas and the Tanks save the day.
