There's a new place to play in Smithfield.

Tag Ur It! opened in November and features a collection of inflatables along with a nine hole indoor mini golf course, an arcade and snack bar. And this Friday, the business' 1200-square-foot laser tag arena is scheduled to open, Beth Frye, one of the owners, tells me.

Frye's husband lost his job at Caterpillar two years ago. The two started thinking of what they could do next and decided Smithfield needed a place to play.

"Last year, it kind of came together and we took our investment and put it into it," Beth tells me. The couple owns the business with Beth's sister as well.

Beth tells me they were happy to take it slow and easy before the holidays. Since Jan. 1, business has picked up. She hopes to do fundraisers for local schools and other things for the community.

"Whatever the communities feels the need for, we'll do," she said.

Tag Ur It, at 505 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., features open play, birthday parties, specials for day cares and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The laser tag arena is for kids ages 5 and up.

Check the website for details. I've added Tag Ur It to our indoor playground and inflatables page.
