Free day, romantic trolley planned for Mordecai Historic Park

The park, which I featured last year, will offer free tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 21 of the Mordecai House and three outbuildings, including the birthplace of Andrew Johnson. Tours are on the hour and 1/2 hour. No registration is necessary. It's first come, first served. This is a school day for most of us, but I bet it would make a great field trip for homeschoolers out there and for those of you who might be tracked out.

And, since the park's Halloween and Santa trolleys are so popular, they'll be testing a Valentine's Trolley this year. At noon and 1 p.m. Feb. 12, riders can take a trolley tour of downtown Raleigh and learn all about the city's notorious love stories, tales of lost love and duels. It's $10 per seat and registration is required. Judging from the Raleigh Trolleys other special tours, these could easily sell out.
