Lucy's Book Club to focus on helping kids sort out feelings
"Knowing My Feelings" is the theme for the current round of books in Lucy's Book Club, a community outreach program led by the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood.
Posted — UpdatedLaunched in May 2009, the book club aims to support the social and emotional growth of infants to six-year-olds in Wake County by encouraging parents to read them books about important developmental themes. The book list has titles for both kids and parents.
To kick off the latest list of books, the center is hosting a special event on Jan. 21. Betsy, the star of the PBS Kids show "Betsy's Kindergarten" will make an appearance for a reading of Kevin Henkes' "Wimberly Worried," which is one of the books on the Lucy's Book Club list.
There are a very limited number of seats (we're talking 20) for the public to attend. Call the center at 919-677-1400 and ask for Wendy to register.
And stay tuned for more later this year as the book club plans its second Bookmarked!, a two-week celebration of reading with children, featuring free readings and appearances.
